The Memory 19 is a gaff rigged sloop originally designed some 30 years ago by Tony Robinson RINA for himself and his family. He was inspired by the refined shapes and practicality of the small, shoal draft fishing smacks of Brightlingsea and so the Memory has the ability to dry out on a mooring, run up a beach or onto a trailer, making her ideal for today’s leisure sailor. Since then over 130 Memorys have been built and are now well proven classics in their own right; safe, easily handled yet fast boats with numerous wins to their credit in Old Gaffers’ Association events. New and second hand boats available from Salterns Boatbuilders. The Memory has been fitted out in many different ways over the years but at Salterns Boatbuilders we have returned to the original concept of simplicity and function. Our philosophy has been to use the very best of modern and traditional materials and craftsmanship, to give an uncomplicated yet beautiful boat of which any owner can be truly proud. We offer new and second hand Memorys. All of our new boats are built only to customer order and we are able to meet most individual requirements. The accommodation is modest but practical on the standard open version Memory with two full sized berths and some storage in a vee formation in the snug little cabin under the foredeck. Access is either by a small pair of doors or optionally via the more spacious lifting hatch and washboards. A cabin version is also available. The cabin is very attractive, with four fixed bronze portholes. The cabin is spacious with two long bunk mouldings in ‘V’ formation, both 8'6", and can be arranged to have a galley and portaloo and cabin table all to personal specification. The addition of the cabin does NOT result in a tiny cockpit! This cockpit remains large at 6'6" with full length seats. Specifications include: teak cabin sides with GRP top for ease of maintenance, sliding hatch, teak handrails on roof, four fixed bronze portholes, bunk cushions, all halyards led aft to end of cockpit.
