Second hand Memory 19 from Salterns Boatbuilders About the Memory: The Memory 19 is a gaff rigged sloop originally designed some 30 years ago by Tony Robinson MRINA for himself and his family. He was inspired by the refined shapes and practicality of the small, shoal draft fishing smacks of Brightlingsea and so the centreplater Memory has the ability to dry out on a mooring, run up a beach or onto a trailer, making her ideal for today’s leisure sailor. Since then over 120 Memorys have been built and are now well proven classics in their own right; safe, easily handled yet fast boats with numerous wins to their credit in Old Gaffers’ Association events. More detail on www.salterns boatbuilders.co.uk About this second hand Boat:The Memory has been fitted out in many different ways over the years but at Salterns Boatbuilders we have returned to the original concept of simplicity and function. Our philosophy has been to use the very best of modern and traditional materials and craftsmanship, to give an uncomplicated yet beautiful boat of which any owner can be truly proud. This cabin version Memory benefited from a thorough refit in 2006, having new mahogany varnished seats and trim, a new hardwood sole in the cockpit and new oiled rubbing strakes and toe rail. The rudder and stainless steel standing rigging were also replaced and the tabernacle galvanised that year. A new galvanised centreplate was fitted in 2007. Her suit of sails including topsail, sail cover and cockpit boom tent, gaff and boom were renewed in 2004 and she has been lightly used since then. She benefits from a Salterns trailer, tabernacle mast, Wycombe Martin roller furler gear and a Yanmar 7.5Hp diesel engine, which had reground pistons and a full service in 2007, and new battery the year before. She is over-wintered undercover.
