Mechanical Systems
Located under cockpit sole, Volvo Penta MD22L 50hp diesel 4-cylinder engine. Fresh water cooled. Electric start. Single lever controls. Shaft drive to fixed 3-bladed propeller. Engine and control panel were both new when professionally installed by Volspec in 1999 and have only been used for sea trials since in 2006.



2 x 12 volt batteries charged via engine alternator. Fully re-wired including 240 volt shorepower system, battery charger and immersion coil during her recent refit. Interior lighting.
Sails & Spars
Cutter rigged ketch. Silver anodised aluminium masts and booms by Sailspar (new 2004). Stainless steel standing rigging (new 2004). Terylene running rigging. In mast furling. 2 x Sailspar furling headsail systems. 4 x Sheet winches. 4 x Halyard winches.



Mainsail, furling genoa, staysail furling genoa and mizzen all new in 2006 by Lonton and Gray, and only used for sea trials since.

Construction
Built in 1975 by Philip & Son Ltd to a Maurice Griffiths hull design. White GRP hull and superstructure with anti-slip grey painted tread master decks. Long keel with encapsulated iron ballast and lifting centreplate. Centre cockpit with wheel steering to keel hung rudder. Self draining cockpit.



During her current ownership 'October Girl' has undergone a major refit which began in 1999 and was completed in 2006. This included the hull being sandblasted and epoxy treated, topsides and superstructure repainted and all external woodwork replaced or revarnished. Many fixtures and fittings were also replaced along with the masts, booms, furling systems, rigging, sails, electrical and gas installations, instrumentation, engine, water and fuel tanks, shaft, propeller, windows, pushpit, pulpit and rubbing strake. In addition she has been updated with a holding tank, bowthruster and electric windlass fitted and her interior has had new upholstery, curtains, headlinings, furniture, cooker and sink.
